Gangsters in the old days would hijack Chinese funerals and use them as fronts for gambling activities. Then there were the international drug runners. They thrived on illegal activities. It made them wealthy but they yearned to be with family and loved ones. This was the heaviest price they had to pay and they would take huge risks in order to see their loved ones.
