Singapore has a reputation of having a first class transportation system and say reports, is the envy of the world. But If there is one thing Singaporeans enjoy a good grumble about and that is transportation! Try and get a taxi when it's raining? Impossible! Taxis are never around when you need them. The MRT may be clean but at peak times you are crammed in like sardines and recently it seems to be constantly breaking down. But even if you can get from A to B there is the serious issue of cost. Singapore is one of the most expensive places in the world to buy a car and is beyond the reach of most people. ERP is also around every corner -- it takes your money but does it ease traffic congestion? Then there is the "hidden" charges of taxis, including the midnight surcharges. So just how first class is Singapore's transportation network?

Joining the debate on Singapore's transportation system TalkAbout invited a cross section of ordinary people to vent their views. They included a media consultant, a retired businessman, a consultant and a filmmaker all of whom are widely travelled .

Click on and join the rant about transportation in Singapore. Our panelists take a good look at the the new circle line and ask how it will cope when the new housing estates are fully developed in the area. The panelists question the line's design and ask why the platform is so short. Then there is the endless complaints about road congestion -- the long queues that seem at times to go on relentlessly. But is Singapore's transport system really deserving of our wrath? Perhaps we are just habitual whingers and just far too spoilt to appreciate a good thing. Afterall, we have had years of a highly efficient and smooth train service and it 's only recently that things have ocassional ground to a halt. So is all the negative publicity unjustifed? Tune in and decide for yourself if Singapore's transportation system needs fixing.
