An increasing number of Singaporeans, it seems, prefer foreigners when it comes to choosing a mate. In fact, latest statistics reveal that a staggering four in ten married non-Singaporeans. So what does that say about our choice in partners? Many Singaporean women apparently prefer Caucasian men. The Caucasian stereotype is seen as rich, handsome and charming and free from the racial constraints that dictate so many relationships in Singapore. On the other hand, local men are regarded as boring, soft 'mummy boys' who want a traditional wife; a wife that will cook and clean; a wife who will be subservient. Many Singaporean men now go overseas and look for Vietnamese and Chinese wives. These women are seen as a complete contrast to the Singaporean women who they regard as just wanting the five Cs --cash, credit card, car, condominium and country club. But is this all just one big myth?

To help debate whether 'Foreign Men Make Better Husbands' TalkAbout invited three mixed marriage couples and two young, single Singaporean men and one young, single Singaporean woman onto the show. Watch as they debate the qualities they look for in the perfect partner: intelligence, physical attraction, sense of humour. They talk about the importance of family and the influence that family members can have on your choice of partner.

The couples, who have enjoyed long and lasting marriages, happily spoke about their love stories and the ups and downs of married life. They revealed the challenges they faced in maintaining a mixed marriage and the views of their friends and family when they decided to tie the knot with someone from a different culture and background. The young, singles reveal what they are looking for in the perfect partner and discuss the trend of local men going overseas to look for foreign brides.

So do foreign men really make better spouses? Is it a reality or a myth? Tune in and listen to this lively, very honest and at times hilarious debate.
